Support FightMND's Big Freeze with a BBQ

Barbecue.pngBunnings is encouraging Australians to join the fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND) by hosting a barbecue at home this long weekend.

“We can’t wait to bring back our sausage sizzle community program, but meantime we hope Australians can get their sausage sizzle fix at home by hosting a barbecue this Queen’s Birthday to support FightMND’s Big Freeze 6,” says Bunnings Managing Director Mike Schneider.

“We are also encouraging people to join our Bunnings Warehouse Big Freeze BBQ Facebook event. Bunnings will donate $2.50 to Fight MND for every RSVP to reach our donation target of up to $500,000.”

Bunnings is also asking Australians to post photos of their Bunnings Big Freeze BBQ to social media and use the tags @Bunnings, @fightmnd, #filltheG, #bigfreeze6, #bunningsbbq.

For the past five years, the Big Freeze has been FightMND’s major fundraising event, and a crowd favourite at the Queen’s Birthday AFL blockbuster match, with FightMND icon Neale Daniher sending a who’s who of sport and media down the slide into Australia’s most famous ice bath. This won’t be possible this year, but Big Freeze 6 will continue the fight against ‘The Beast’ via a special one-hour broadcast on Channel 7 and 7mate.

Every day at least two people are diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Australia, and without a truly effective treatment and no known cure, at least two Australians pass away as a result of the disease every day.

Bunnings is selling FightMND beanies nationally until June 27 at our trade desks and online at bunnings.com.au.
