I need to build the 2nd stage of my deck which has a span between the bearers of 3600mm. Would 240mm x 45mm joists (every 450mm) work, or would it be too springy? Would i need 290mm high x 45mm instead?
Hello @benwakefield521
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your deck.
In order to give our members a better idea of your framing plan, would it be possible for you to post a picture of your proposed decking frame? This will allow our members to examine how you've spaced your timber and where you've placed your footings. A springy frame can be countered by adding more footings to the frame, but it does add to the overall cost of the deck. However, not having enough footings can compromise the entire decking frame.
If you need a hand posting the photos, please let us know.
