How to order a custom-size panel for bench?

Hi Team,

I’m interested in getting a panel similar to SpecRite, but in a custom size — approximately 2800mm in length and 400–500mm in width.

I’m new to this and planning to build a side bench for one of our rooms, so I’d appreciate any guidance on the best material or finish options for this application.

Thank you for your question about custom timber panels.

Unfortunately, your options are relatively limited as most premade panels top out at around 2700mm.

There is a limited number of Kaboodle benchtops that can be made to measure at sizes larger than this. You'll have to speak with your local store's Special Orders desk to explore what options are available.

The only other option is to purchase smaller panels and join them together using something like dowels, biscuits or benchtop connectors. This option would obviously require a bit more work.

I'd suggest you head into your local store and speak with the Special Orders team to explore what options are available for you to custom order. They should have brochures and physical samples, which you could have a look through, and the team will be able to advise you about prices.

Have you considered joining 2 together? You could create a good join with those under bench joiners, and/or dowel plus glue, then cut to the right overall length. Consider making the join so that it lies over a the join of 2 cabinets underneath 😻
