How to fix frayed carpet edge transition to tile?

I have a small approx. 100mm carpet edge that has become frayed. How can this be fixed?

I've looked at "transition trim" eg https://www.bunnings.com.au/qep-25mm-x-1m-transition-cover-trim_p0227344 but don't see how this would be attached.

As the photo shows, there is carpet joining tiles with a metal edge against the tiles.

What is the best option here?

Re: Frayed carpet edge, tile, transition fix

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @smaunsell. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about transition strips.

Those styles of cover trim require a strip installed on the floor before carpeting, which they lock into. Retrofitting them without removing the carpet is not really possible.

You'd likely need to use a nail in a transition strip, similar to Roberts 32mm x 1.65m Pewter Hammered Cover Strip Trim. If you have a timber or chipboard subfloor, the trim can usually be nailed or screwed directly into it. If the subfloor is concrete, you'd need to install small plastic plugs to nail into. The key is to ensure the frayed carpet edge is neatly tucked under the trim before fixing it down, which will protect the edge and give a clean finish.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Looks like a concrete slab. It has a strip of wood gripper (red lines).

Are you saying that product you mentioned would go hard up against the metal/times and over the carpet (green lines)?

No, it should go up and onto the tile slightly @smaunsell.
