Hello Bunnings Workshop,
Can you please provide advice on in putting concrete to side of house?
Key questions:
- membrane required for weeds?
- what fill / how much to include?
- what concrete recommend to use?
Thanks in advance.

Side of House
Hello @ShaneGty,
Thanks for sharing your question about concreting the side of your house. I propose looking at this discussion - How to pour a concrete slab by @tom_builds. The techniques used to build the slab apply to your proposed project.
Here are some of the most important aspects when building your concrete walkway:
I've placed a sample image rendered using AI to give you an idea of what it could look like.
Let me call on our experienced members @Nailbag, @Dave-1 and @AlanM52 for their recommendations when building a concrete walkway.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Good afternoon @ShaneGty
@EricL has really hit on most of the things i would consider when thinking of a concrete path (Tho I do prefer pavers as I know if I ever need to gain access under them then pavers are a lot easier
) If you follow those rulles of @EricL you cant go far wrong
Just do it in sections.
I would also suggest a couple more things to burry first ![]()
Waterpipe the length of the path (with access, access points)
underground (orange) conduit
Stormwater pipe
Spare 50mm orange conduit. (just in case for spare purposes)
Having to have to remove my concrete side path for stormwater work really re-enforces that for minimal cost I can save myself a load of work ![]()
Whoops, last one. Whichever way, do not use the fence itself for one side of the path, fences fail, get removed, bow with time. so having a standalone edge is a better choice.
Dave
Hi @ShaneGty,
I agree with @Dave-1 about paving instead of concrete as well as his reasons for doing that.
