Hi, I’m currently swapping out 20yo carpet for hybrid flooring. As I remove the nailed in carpet tack strips it is pulling up small chunks of slab with it (~3-4mm deep)
looking for ideas on what to use to fill in the holes and then what to use to re-seal the concrete before laying the floor.
thanks!
Hi @SatchmoAu,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Once you have removed all the carpet strips, give the concrete a good sweep to remove any remaining dust or debris.
When everything is tidied up, I would grab some floor leveller and mix it up in a measuring jug, then slowly pour it into the chipped areas until they are flush with the surrounding areas.
Once dry, you can paint over them with Bondall BondCrete Cement Additive mixed 1:4 with water - 1 part Bondcrete to 4 parts water. This will help to seal and protect the patches before the new flooring can be installed over the top.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Jacob
