I went up on the roof and notice that there was a gap between some colorbond sheets. Looking for some recommendations on what would be the best way to seal the gap. The gap is around 10cm.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @pauly85. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about sealing a gap.
It’s a bit difficult to determine the best solution just from the images, but generally, you always want to start from the outside when addressing gaps like this in a Colorbond roof. It looks like a flashing is missing—this would normally cover the majority of that 10cm gap and prevent water ingress.
Installing the correct external flashing should be your priority, as that will provide the main protection from the elements. Once that’s in place, you can then come back and seal any smaller internal gaps with an appropriate filler or sealant, but it’s that external flashing that will do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to keeping moisture out. Something like this 100 x 50mm Zinc flashing might suit. You'll likely be able to get it colour-matched through our Special Orders team if that would suit the roof sheets better.
Are you able to take an image from the outside for us?
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hi Pauly85
From what I can make out from your images, it appears that there are two roof areas. I believe that @MitchellMc is on the money with a flashing, alternative it maybe a piece of external cladding that is missing, possibly fitting up under the existing fascia. A photo from the outside would likely confirm.
If its flashing, an 'APRON' is probably what would best describe what you need.
Hello @richp
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience in regards to the gap in the Colorbond roof. I totally agree that it's probably a missing piece of flashing. Once we see the photo from @pauly85 we should be able to provide better advice on what type of extension they should put in.

Thank you @MitchellMc , @richp , @EricL for your advice. I have managed to go up on the roof and take some pictures. It looks to me that two levels of the roof meet and create an awkward gap. a close up of the gap

Hello @pauly85
Thank you for sharing those extra photos of your roof. The roofing installer must have had a reason for leaving that section open. It's also possible that access was limited due to its location. Either way I propose engaging the services of a roofing specialist and getting a quote on how much it will cost to properly seal that end of your roof. It would be best to have it done professionally as incorrect installation or modification can have long term consequences to the wellbeing of your house.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @pauly85
At the time of installation, it might have been deemed acceptable that rain wouldn't splash through, especially as it's a complicated set of angles. But that internal photo is showing a way too large a gap. That self adhesive roll of flashing @MitchellMc recommended will be ideal if wide enough to cover the area. Or you could have bent up a custom sized colourbond colour matched one as he also suggested via special orders. Either is fine as long as it does the job.
The roof angle looks pretty steep to access, so don't hesitate to get a roof plumber in to fix this up as @EricL suggested.

Morning @pauly85
Does the rain get in? But as the crew have mentioned its a fairly large gap at 10cm (I cant see it on the outisde photos tho)
For future care of your house I would also suggest a roofer/plumber to have a look to see.It looks like a bunch of complicated angles are coming together and having it fixed professionally may be an easier job then trying to sort it out up on the roof.
