Hello,
I have my internet modem and router in the garage since the NBN box is there as well.
I would like to send an Ethernet cable from the garage all the way to the living room to be able to connect in a more reliable way since the Wi-Fi isn't most times due to the long distance between the garage and the living room.
I've tried Wi-Fi extenders but is just not good enough.
I'm wondering what's the best way would be to send the cable from the garage to the living.
I was thinking maybe there's an option to move the cable through the ceiling?
Thanks in advance, and please feel free to explain as much as possible of the procedure since I'm not very experienced on DIY tasks.
Hi @PeterEllis49 , @Dave-1, @EricL & @JacobZ
Since there is always someone who wants to DIY cabling, I thought it would be good to link to a sticky thread on another forum that has been around for years and has gone through numerous re-writes so it may make the point clearer than I have and it will show I'm not just stringing people on. See here.....
Morning @R4addZ
Live and learn
I was having a look through the links you have sent, yeah about as fun as watching paint dry I must admit
But rules are rules. You are correct
Tho still think in my own place I would (and yeah I know thats still a no no) I was thinking about timelines and when was the last time I worked activly in the telecommunications area, 2002.... Definently things change over years.
Thank you for the info. And yeah I will keep it in mind
I may even try re-reading the links after a few coffees lol The old Australian rules book was more interesting and that is saying something.

Hi @Dave-1
I know only too well how boring reading those regs are. I qualified for skilled migration to Australia on the basis of my trade, only to find out on arrival that I couldn't actually work in my trade without a license (I know a few plumbers who have fallen foul of the same situation). My problem back then was that the license had only just been brought in and nobody was running any courses. My only option at the time was to go and buy hard copy versions of the australian standards and learn them all off by heart as I had no idea what the questions would be like. I eventually decided to take the test to see what the questions would be like. To my surprise and great pleasure, I passed first try! But having had to learn the standards so in full was so hard and boring as ....
