How to patch a hole from old Weatherwall air con?

We've had the old Weatherall air con unit removed, but the from panel remains with the giant hole in the wall behind it. The other side of this panel (see picture) it's our garage so not an external wall.

The wall located in the entry hallway, is brick but I'm wondering if I could just patch it with studs, insulation and plasterboard?

Approximate measurements would be something like 450mm x  1400mm at a guess.

Hi @Chriszanthony,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Assuming the surrounds are solid, and you could mount studs to them, then patching it with studs, insulation and a sheet material would be a great solution.

I would however suggest using Villaboard instead of plasterboard because the wall appears to be rendered.

You could then apply Dunlop Fine Coat Render over the Villaboard to blend it in with the rest of the wall.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
