How to repaint tiles?

Hi

Hoping someone can help - we painted our laundry wall tiles with White Knight tile paint about 10 years ago and it has lasted great except the white has now yellowed. I want to trepaint it but am unsure if I will need to sand and reprime  before I apply the tile paint or just a sand to take the gloss off and then tile paint will be enough for a good bond?

Re: Repainting Tiles

Hello @JennyK3116

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. it's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about repainting your tiles.

It would be best to reprime the surface of the wall so that the topcoat will have a solid surface to anchor onto. By sanding the old paint surface, you are technically providing the primer with an ideal surface to latch onto, this also has the added benefit of removing any old paint chips that might be coming off the wall. Once the wall surface has been sanded very well, I suggest wiping it down with Parfix Sugar Soap Wipes - 50 Pack to remove all the dirt, debris and sanding dust on the surface. Please make sure that the surface is totally dry before you begin painting with the primer.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
