Hi - is anyone please able to help with how I change this broken handle to the new one? Thanks
Hi @fredd,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
It looks like you've got a Whitco 5 Disc Push to Lock Chainwinder.
Having a look at the Installation Instructions, it says the following -
"Handle can be repositioned if required. Gently prise handle off with a screwdriver ensuring that winder body is protected by a cloth. Handle can then be pushed back in a different location"
This instruction appears to be about rotating the handle into a more accommodating position, but it would be the same process to replace the old, broken handle.
Give this a try and let me know how you go. I am happy to assist further if required.
Jacob
Thank you - that got it off - but now I can’t push the new one on. It looks exactly the same (more so than the photo, I couldn’t get the angle exactly right) but it absolutely refuses to go on. I can push the old one back on no problem.
Hi @fredd,
It definitely looks like it is the exact same.
Start by inspecting the hole to ensure there is no broken plastic or misaligned internal mechanisms blocking things.
I would then grab a rag to cover the handle, line everything up then tap it with a hammer.
It should go in with a bit more persuasion.
Let me know how you go.
Jacob
Thank you! Sorry - took me a few days to get around to it, but the hammer did the trick 😊 much appreciated.
Glad to hear it @fredd.
Thank you for following up, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions in the future.
