What size drill bit would need for this Eye Screw? I am drilling into a hardwood beam.

Do you have a drill bit set if not get one like this.
You can select the right drill size yourself, it's quite easy 🙂
The body of the screw (ignore the thread) is called the shank.
Pick a drill bit size that is the same or a bit less than the shank.
To expand on that you are drilling a pilot hole into hardwood so pick a bit the same size as the shank.
If that was softwood pick a bit size a bit smaller than the shank size.

I use Alan's technique, but with failing eyesight I now most times use a vernier caliper - and subtract a few millimetres.
Yep... I started using this.
The missus still hasn't noticed it's missing from her sewing table 😊
