hi there and thanks in advance. I need to replace some cladding and I am having difficulty finding out the existing as it needs to match if possible as it will be seen next to and join at right angles to the existing. I attach some photos of a piece that has been removed. The width of each board is approx 125mm. The same boards are used vertically and horizontally in different places around the building. I have looked through the plans and specs and have been unable to find exact details but have found references to ‘vertical compressed fibre lining board' and 'CFC sheet equal to Harditex 8mm pre primed sheet' and 'shiplap pre-primed cladding' as well as 'Scyon Sheet with Vertical Grooves". But I think it is timber not compressed fibre but not sure. Any help identifying/sourcing would be greatly appreciated.
From what you’ve described, it sounds most likely that your existing cladding is the shiplap pre-primed timber style mentioned in the specs @Coolaholigah, but without the exact profile, it’s impossible to be certain what it is. The safest way to confirm is to take a sample piece, ideally a thin strip from the end of a board, and bring it into your nearest Bunnings store. They usually have access to technical guidebooks showing all the current and legacy cladding profiles from suppliers and can help you match your piece to an available product.
Be aware that if your cladding is an older timber style, stocks may be limited, since most suppliers now favour fibre cement products. If they can’t source an exact match, your options would be to pick the closest modern profile, or in some cases, consider replacing the cladding in that section so it matches the rest of the wall. Heading in with a sample and speaking to the Special Orders team will give you the best chance of finding a suitable solution without guessing.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
