new front and laundry door

new front and laundry door

My current doors block a lot of light I would like to switch these out for wood doors with glass panels to let in more light.

My current door sits on a metal frames and measures 2000 x 810 x 40 which is just slightly smaller than the ones available at Bunnings.

I like the Hume style but can this be cut down to fit my frame or is a customer door necessary?

Re: new front and laundry door

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Jessica2. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about adjusting a door.

A quick word of caution before you start: removing more than 3 mm from any edge of a door will immediately void the manufacturer’s warranty. In practice, taking a little more, say, around 5 mm off either side—usually won’t compromise the structural integrity, but adjusting the height by 40 mm, which would mean trimming 20 mm off both the top and bottom, is quite a significant modification. That’s pushing into a range where the door’s performance could be affected.

If you are comfortable making those cuts yourself, it’s possible, but you do so at the cost of any warranty. If maintaining a full warranty is important, or if you want the peace of mind of a properly sized door without any major adjustments, the safer approach is to speak with the team at your local Bunnings Special Orders desk. They can provide pricing and options for a custom-made door to suit your frame exactly, which would save you the hassle and risk of cutting down a standard door. We also offer a convenient Door Installation offer.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
