looking to refinish the bottom of door frame. What products do i need?
Hi @goyal03,
The main step is to sand it back until you have a smooth, clean surface. Focus on the area with the chipped paint and any exposed timber. Start with 120 grit and finish with 240. A detail sander would come in handy for this. If possible, remove the gold-coloured trim so you can get right into the corners and edges; this avoids having to sand around it awkwardly.
Once the area is smooth, check for any deep chips or gouges. If there are any, you can fill them with a Builder's Bog, shape it so it’s flush with the surrounding timber, and sand it smooth once it dries. Finally, finish the area with a good-quality enamel paint suitable for timber surfaces, which will give a durable, clean finish and match the rest of the frame. This process will restore the sill and make it look neat again.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
