Hi there,
I just noticed in my apartment bathroom fan ducting is not connected to the duct outlet in the balcony. And the duct is all curled up near the outlet. Is there a less invasive way to reach the duct and connect to the bathroom fan outlet?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @hasain. It's splendid to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about attaching ducting.
Could you let us know how far the fan is from the outlet, and whether there's any access to the ducting from either end? Without proper access, the only option might be to reach in through the fan cut-out, try to locate the duct, and carefully pull and extend it back toward the fan for reconnection—but that can be tricky, especially if it’s curled up and out of reach. Are you able to access the roof space or cavity above the ceiling? If not, and if the duct is tucked too far away, it might be worth calling in a handy person to help reattach it securely.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Mitchell
Hope this email finds you well.
We bought a new exhaust fan for our apartment's bathroom from Bunnings, but found the old exhaust fan to be inaccessible as the builder had installed it as if it was a house (he's a house builder previously). It appears that the fan was screwed to the concrete ceiling and covered with a gryprok, see the attached photo. Which trades professional would you recommend for this situation, will an electrician do or does it even have to be an electrician?
Many thanks
Lip
Hello @lteh
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
To properly wire up the exhaust fan I suggest engaging the services of an electrician. If you are shopping around, it would be best to ask them if they have experience in installing exhaust fans. By telling them of the current situation and showing them pictures of the installation point, they will be able to give you a much more accurate quote for the service.
It may also be necessary to engage a plasterer to fix the plasterboard of the ceiling should gaps be visible around the exhaust fan.
I also suggest asking about the stores Exhaust And Heat Lamp Installation. This will save you time if you are looking for a professional to install your exhaust fan.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
