How to fix a loose doorknob and lock?

IMG_2490.jpeg

Just wondering how to fix up this doorknob yourself without having to resort to a locksmith etc

Can’t seem to upload 10 second video , it’s the knob AND the lock we flick are both loose. Thankyou

Re: How to fix a loose doorknob and lock?

Hello @DavidFg

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your door knob.

The parts inside this particular door knob are machine pressed and have no fixings that can be adjusted or tightened inside the knob. When the door knob has been in use for several years the tolerances between fittings become loose due to wear and tear. If it is just loose and is currently not interfering with the locking function and operation of the door knob, I propose using it as is for the meantime. But should the unit start to malfunction and the snib fails to operate, I suggest considering changing the door knob for a new one.

Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to change a door knob

Should you decide to change your door knob, I recommend checking out the stores Door Lock Installation Service. This will save you time if your are looking for a professional to install your door knob.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
