How to fix pinprick spots in rustoleum repaint of bathtub?

I recently had the bath tub redone by a painter and they used Rust-Oleum. I am concerned they didn't do the prep work well, as the first time it dried with lots of air bubbles, spots that they'd missed leaving a matt finish rather than shine, and paint runs. They also did the work on a dreary raining day which I would've thought want appropriate but figured they new best.

Turns out they'd only done a couple of baths previously. While they came back and fixed the issues, I'm still seeing maybe 5 little spots on the bath. They're so small you could miss them, but I'm wondering if while the bath is completely dry still (hasn't been used in over two weeks now) should I get a touch up kit and do it myself to touch these up, how difficult is that - can I do just spots? Or, are pin pricks not really a problem and just part of life?

Two photos showing three spots, one the largest there is more like a scratch, and the two I'm pointing at are more typical of the size. Nothing has been in the tub since it's been done

Re: pinprick spots in rustoleum repaint of bathtub

Hi @Nick4,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

While there are certainly some imperfections with the paint job, overall it looks like a relatively good job, and it is good to hear they owned their mistakes and came back to fix the majority.

With this being said, it would still be worth grabbing a Rust-Oleum 13.3ml White Tub And Tile Touch Up Kit and coating those couple of spots just to protect them.

You can use a small craft brush to apply the epoxy so that it is nice and neat.

Let me know what you think, and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you!

Do I just need to tape off the spot (maybe 1cmsq) sand it lightly, clean, and then apply the touch up? No need to redo the whole layer?

Hi @Nick4,

That is exactly what I would recommend.

No need to redo the whole thing.

Let me know how you go.
