I have a loose wall plate on the shower mixer, see photo attached. I guess it’s always been loose and we just pushed it back every time it came out and never bothered.
The area behind seems dry but I am worried if water could have seeped behind?
How do I fix this?
Hi @JerseyBlue,
You can fix this very simply and effectively.
Run a bead of clear wet-area silicone either on the back edge of the cover flange or directly on the wall where the flange sits. Push the cover plate back into position and wipe away any excess. Once the silicone cures, it will hold the plate firmly in place and stop it working loose again. It will also act as a seal to prevent water getting in behind the mixer body.
Since the cavity behind feels dry, it is unlikely that any significant water has been getting through, but sealing it properly now will stop any future ingress.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
