How to update bathroom wall tiles?

How to update bathroom wall tiles?

We are currently getting our house ready for sale and am a bit stuck with what to do with the bathroom, in particular the wall tiles. I feel like they look very dated, especially the mosaic bit.

Apart from retiling, what options are there to make this look fresher? I've heard mixed reviews about painting over the tiles... What about microcementing?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Help with bathroom wall tiles

Hello @kgabrielle

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your tiles.

The least invasive upgrade you can do would be to paint your tiles. If done properly it will provide a nice visual upgrade that will remove that old tile colour. I recommend looking at either White Knight 1L White Satin Renew Tile And Laminate Paint or the Rust-Oleum 946ml White Gloss Tub And Tile Refinishing Kit. Both of these products can be used on tile surfaces.

The next upgrade would be to remove the old grout and replacing it with a white grout. This will refresh the tile pattern and make it look like it has just been recently installed.

Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to Paint Tiles

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to update bathroom wall tiles?

Hi @kgabrielle,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. I hope you found Eric's reply helpful.

Just thought I'd encourage you to share a few more photos of your bathroom so members can get the full context. How old is the bathroom? It looks like it is in excellent condition, and I'm not sure I would touch it.

If you'd like to share some more photos, I would be happy to tag some experienced renovators in the community to get their opinion on what they would do.

Thanks,

Jason
