Hello, my towel rail kept falling down, so I removed it by unscrewing the grub screws each side. It is also covered in superglue where someone previously tried to fix it. I would like a new one that I can fit to the existing brackets so I don't have to make new holes and drill. Can anyone recommend a towel rail that is likely to fit?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @melissalee. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about towel rails.
Finding a towel rail that matches the exact mounting hole spacing of your current one is extremely unlikely. Even if you manage to find one that’s roughly the same length, the brackets and mounting clips will almost certainly not line up with your existing holes.
The simplest approach is to select a towel rail that fits the space you want and fill the old holes. Since your previous holes are in the grout, this is straightforward. You can patch them with grout and it will blend in nicely. After that, you can drill new holes for the new rail. Drilling into tile isn’t difficult with the right tools: use a tile drill bit, go slowly, and keep the bit damp by spritzing with water as you drill to prevent cracking. This method is far easier and more reliable than trying to find a perfect match to your old mounting points.
