6m x 6m shed: best option for floor finishing?

Hi all,

I have a 6m x 6m shed with a concrete floor in good condition (some stains, but minimal cracks and no moisture). We are going to turn it into an office space (not a full fit out, more of a competent space type of project).

I have spent weeks researching flooring and have tied myself in a knot.

I am looking for a flooring option that meets this criteria:

- Will be easy to maintain and clean.

- Can be converted back into or used as a regular shed easily enough if needed.

- Looks nice (without being a show stopper).

- At the lower end of the price spectrum - we want to add a toilet and electricity, so trying to save budget where we can.

It doesn't need to be a DIY option - if hiring someone to do the task is wiser, that's fine. If it is a DIY option, take into consideration that my DIY skills are fairly modest (though I will give most things a go).

Open to any suggestions or advice.

Thanks everyone.

Hi @nightsmithjones,

Search the workshop with keyword 'flooring'.

Can you send some photos.

With regard to electricity, sewerage AND water consider the shed location and the trenching distance to those services.

Even if you decide to do the DIY flooring thing you really need to consider all aspects of the project before you start.

I would also make sure the shed is a legal structure.

Cheers

Hi @nightsmithjones,

It's great to see you've already gotten some fantastic advice from @AlanM52.

Considering the desire to install a toilet, you will need to have flooring that can be used in wet areas.

You might like to check out our range of Hybrid Waterproof Flooring, which is an easy-to-install and remove, relatively low-cost flooring material that can be used in wet areas like bathrooms.

One of the biggest advantages is that it’s a floating floor system. That means it doesn’t need to be glued down, so if you ever decide to convert the shed back to its original purpose, you can lift and remove the flooring without damaging the concrete underneath. This makes it highly versatile and a great long-term solution, even if your plans change.

Visually, hybrid flooring delivers a really nice, professional look, often with timber-style finishes that bring warmth and style to a space, without going over the top.

You might like to have a look at D.I.Y. hybrid flooring installation from @RAW and Hybrid flooring installation from @WoodenGregsWood for some examples of hybrid flooring projects.

Let me know what you think.

Jacob
