Hello, anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to seal the bottom of the shed walls? Sand and debris keep coming in and building up. It is a metal shed with a concrete slab, the walls are also staying to rust at the bottom.
Community manager's note: Check out How to waterproof a shed floor for expert advice.
Quick question on fixing this shed, can it be dynabolted through the bottom rail directly into the concrete after running sikaflex along the length of the rail and build the shed up from there?I would like to do this,Cheers Glenn.
Hi @GlennC,
Yes, you can definitely place the bottom rail onto a bead of Sikaflex and then dynabolt it down into the concrete. Compressing the sealant under the rail is actually a very effective way to stop water creeping in beneath it.
For extra protection, you could also run a small bead of sealant along the outside edge of the rail where it meets the concrete. Often, though, the sealant squeezed out from under the rail when you bolt it down is enough on its own. Just smooth it off with a wet finger to create a neat, continuous seal. This method should give you a solid, weatherproof base for building the rest of your shed.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
