Hi there
I have Ozito 18v Cydlinder lawn mower and Ozito 36v 370mm lawn mower.
How do i sharpen Ozito cylinder and rotary mower blades?
Regards
KK
Hi @softkun123,
For the Ozito PXC 18V 380mm Cordless Cylinder Lawn Mower, you'll find care and maintenance advice in the user manual. It's important to identify if it's the blades that need sharpening or if the cutting bar just needs adjusting. If the cutting bar is adjusted correctly, the blades should self-sharpen. I'll include the section below. Remember to use extreme caution around the blades and keep your hands away from them, have the battery removed from the tool and be wearing cut resistant gloves.
For the powered lawn mower, you might find it more convenient to replace they blade periodically rather than try to sharp it. If you can show us a close up image of the cutting blade then we can advise on whether it could be sharpened or needs to be replaced.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hey so I've been using the ozito cylinder for 2 years now. And want to know how much a new blade cost I can't find the price on bunnings website. The ozito pages says it is apart of the bunnings special category
Hi @BRAMBO
Just to confirm you have adjusted the current blade as per the owners manual screenshot @MitchellMc posted? The blades when adjusted correctly for self-sharpening should last for a considerable amount of time unless they are damaged with dent's in them. My lawn-care addicted son has had his Ozito cylinder mower for about 2yrs used almost weekly as he likes to keep his large lawn area like a bowls green. He is yet to replace the blades, but has adjusted them on several occasions.
If you do purchase replacement blades, you will still need to go through the self-adjustment process. New blades will jamb against the cutting bar if not adjusted back accordingly.
As an FYI, unlike conventional lawn mower blades, cylinder cutting blades are not forgiving with debris in the lawn. They really are only designed to handle grass only to go through them.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @BRAMBO. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Ozito mowers.
As @Nailbag mentioned, it would be good to hear whether you have tried adjusting the blades to ensure they are self-sharpening correctly. If your blades are simply blunt, then adjusting them would resolve that issue. However, if they've sustained heavy damage, then a replacement might be in order. The blade assembly can be ordered through our Special Orders desk at your local store with part # 341420001020. The team at the Special Orders desk will be able to let you know the price of the barrel blade assembly. However, it should be around $30.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Is there anyway to back lap them?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Will4. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about sharpening a blade.
Yes, you could try back-lapping the cylinder mower blades to restore their sharpness, though Ozito does not recommend that technique. Depending on how dull the blades are, you might just need to touch any chips up with a file and use a sharpening stone on them. Once there are relatively sharp, reinstall and adjust to suit. They will then self-sharpen.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

I've managed to make a mess of my blades due to debris - I went over a couple of sticks that got caught up in the blades, and now there are definitely issues with misalignment and dents in the blades.
How easy is it to replace the cylinder using the special order part that you recommended?
Hello @DrDino
Having owned several rotary mowers, I feel your frustration. Let me try and answer your first question. If you have the proper tools in your tool box you should be able to take the rotary mower apart and change the rotary blade assembly. But if the large flat blade is damaged it will need to be replaced as well. Rotary mowers produce amazing results in the right conditions, but if they are forced to operate in a debris filled lawn the blades will get damaged. Please note that repairing your mower yourself will void its warranty.
If you've not done any mechanical disassembly or are not familiar with cordless electrical systems, I strongly suggest bringing it to an authorized Ozito repair shop instead.
Cost is also a factor in purchasing the rotary blades themselves, if they are more than half the cost of the mower itself, it would probably be better to purchase a new one instead. Repairing your rotary mower is definitely possible and if you do enough research, you'll know exactly what you need to do to bring it back to operational order especially if it is not yet that old. Rotary blade sharpening and flat blade sharpening can be done by a professional and they will compensate for any damage that might have occurred.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
