Re: Toy helicopter prototype

Looks great @woodenwookie, many thanks for sharing.

What did you learn from building the prototype?

Re: Toy helicopter prototype

The one thing I really learned from this is to predrill the holes before cutting.

I destroyed the tail rotor drilling after the cut.

I’m also pretty happy with how the caps came out but I need to create a better jig for drilling those holes.

Re: Toy helicopter prototype

I also did learn one thing but I kind of already knew it beforehand anyway... DO NOT throw stuff at a moving table saw blade.

I got frustrated trying to make the intricate cuts for the landers when the table saw kept destroying the pieces.

Luckily I didn't really get hurt but as soon as the piece left my hand I knew it was a dumb thing to do. It's a good thing I was wearing my face shield and earmuffs.

That's also what led me onto getting a scrollsaw which was one of the best purchases I made. I was talked out of a bandsaw but I do feel that I also need a band saw so that's going to be my last tool purchase.
