Which drill to buy for a novice?

I’m looking for a reasonably priced cordless drill to help me with putting flat packs together. I will not be using this for any major building works nor will I use it often. Your recommendations would be appreciated as well as things I should be considering. I am a complete novice in this space. Thanks

Re: Which drill to buy

If you are just going to put flat packs together, would you even need a cordless drill or something like this would do?

If you are after a reasonably priced cordless drill kit, only occasional low intensity use, I think this would be more than sufficient.

and something like this.

Re: Which drill to buy

It's wonderful to have you join the Bunnings Workshop community @handyma and @sunnyluna.

It's also great to see the helpful suggestions from @Neo19.

@sunnyluna's suggestion of the Ryobi 18V ONE+ 2.0Ah Drill Driver Kit would be a solid choice that could also be used for many different projects around the home. Today it might be flat-pack cabinetry, but who knows, maybe next week that shelf might fall off, you'll want to hang a picture, or that squeaky door hinge finally gets too annoying. The other thing to remember is you're not just buying the tools but the battery and charger. You might not use the drill often, but since you now have the Ryobi battery and charger, you can select from any of the 100 tools in their One+ range without having to repurchase the battery and charger.

The advice here likely has you on the right track, but feel free to check out the guide: How to choose the right drill for the job

Please let us know if you have any questions.
