Hi,
Trying to work out the plus's and minus"s for the following situation.
This mower caught my eye
Ozito PXC 36V (2 x 18V) 380mm Brushless Lawn Mower 4.0Ah Kit PXBTMK-2438 https://bunnings.com.au/applinks_p0500364?source=product_share&utm_source=bunnings&utm_medium=retail...
It has excellent reviews.
But I want something that will chew through bark from Gum trees, that gets scattered across my yard after every storm. Some pieces can be quite long (see photo with house brick for size reference).
Will the above mower do the job of munching up bark like this? (Not the sticks, just the bark). Thx.

Hi @Oopsee,
Thank you for your question.
I can't say from first-hand experience as I haven't used this mower myself, but unless that bark is much stronger than it looks, it shouldn't have too much trouble with the bark. The added mulching plug will keep the bark and grass clippings in the blades where they will be cut up to a smaller size, then deposited across the lawn.
The sticks, on the other hand, should definitely be left to a garden shredder.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Jacob
Thx @JacobZ
Is there any real advantage, in your opinion, in going for the Ozito Steel Deck mower over this lighter one, besides the extra 30mm? I.e. Comparing "plastic" to steel deck?
Good Evening @Oopsee
if only, my old victor petrol mower would struggle with the long lengths, I have them all over my yard as well.
Im tempted for a battery mower as I dont have a lot of lawn and my existing mower is falling apart chassis wise
I dont think a battery lawnmower would cut it....
love the pun and it was unintentional.
Dave
Hi @Oopsee,
The main difference is the durability of the deck. Where an errant stick could damage a plastic deck, it would cause much less of an issue with the steel deck.
Both being 36V, the power would be comparable.
Considering the gum trees in your yard, a steel deck would be a good choice.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
@JacobZ I agree. The steel deck is going to be more durable with lots of sticks about the yard from trees. Thx.
Well, about 5 weeks ago I decided to go for the 380mm battery operated Ozito. I must say after using it, from the very first time, I was impressed! It is so light to manoeuvre! Yet, it chews through all the bark and sticks that the large gum trees on my property can throw at it! Compared to 55 years of using various petrol mowers, this is a breeze to start, push, and put away. Easy to look after 1600m2 with just the two supplied 4Ah batteries.
I used to hose down my previous John Deere, self-propelled, (yes, I know, bit pedantic...it's just a mower) but I just blow this with the leaf blower when finished to remove xs grass/dust. I was warned not to wash it! 😀
Hi @Oopsee,
I'm so glad to hear you are happy with your Ozito PXC 36V 380mm Brushless Lawn Mower and it is managing your property with ease.
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
