How to improve AEG Fusion mower performance on thicker grass?

I’ve had my AEG Fusion battery powered mower for nearly two years and it’s been great. Just lately it seems to lose power when hitting higher or thicker grass whereas before it used to increase revs to cut through the thicker grass. I’ve done the increase height of cut, decreased width of cut and it doesn’t matter if the batteries are freshly charged or not. It never cuts out completely you just have to stop, lift the front wheels and let the revs build up again before proceeding. Anyone have any ideas? Mid north coast NSW Australia

Re: AEG Fusion mower

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @OldElza. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about AEG mowers.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your mower.

After two years your blade might have dulled and need sharpening or if it's had a hard life replacement. That would be the first thing I'd check. Remove your battery from the machine for safety, and tip the mower over to check the condition of the blade. It should have nice crisp right-angled edges on it. If the edges are smooth or rounded over, it indicates it needs to be sharpened. A dull blade causes additional stress on the motor and could be the reason for the change in performance.

Failing the blade being dull, I'd recommend you take it to your nearest store for warranty assessment as it would still be under warranty at two years old. Make sure you take your proof of purchase with you.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: AEG Fusion mower

Hi Mitchell. Thanks for replying. Yes I have sharpened the blades. No difference. I just checked on aeg registration site. My mower is registered, has 6 years of warranty and the receipt is also there. I’ll be off to Port Mac Bunnings in due course
