Our veggie garden

Our veggie garden

We love to live outdoors; cooking BBQs and foraging from our own vegetable garden whenever possible. We wanted to create height in the garden so it feels like a feature in itself, with plants cascading and growing at varying levels for aesthetic appeal. The veggie garden sits right in front of our BBQ area, making it easy to pick fresh herbs and vegetables as we cook. It’s both practical and a beautiful focal point while entertaining or preparing meals outside.

Steps

Step 1

Earthwork: removed and cleared soil creating space for our veggie garden; placing large concreteIMG_8412 4.jpeg

Step 2

Plenty of family trips to Bunnings lately; stocking up on soil, mulch, and all the herbs to get our garden started.

Step 3

Mixed up a healthy soil blend to lay the foundations for our veggie garden. The kids loved getting their hands dirty, adding soil and worms from our worm farm to boost the mix.DJI_20240909_163958_826.jpgDJI_20240909_164007_977.jpg

Step 4

Planting herbs and flowers to bring our garden to life.DJI_20240909_164434_200.jpg

Step 5

The fun part begins! Watching everything grow and picking fresh ingredients for dinner.DSC_9164.JPGIMG_2399.jpeg

Re: Our veggie garden

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @BecandJake. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for sharing your project.

Congratulations! It looks fantastic, and the different levels you’ve created really add depth and interest. It’s clear a lot of thought and care went into making such a welcoming outdoor space. What exactly are the concrete pipes? Such a novel idea that appears to be working exeptionally well.

Well done!

Mitchell

See something interesting? Give it the thumbs up!

Re: Our veggie garden

Thanks so much ! Wish we joined sooner.

The concrete pipes are silt pits used to capture and trap silt, debris, and sediment before stormwater flows into pipes or soak wells.

Thanks again.

Jake and Bec.
