Hi All,
Im looking for an idea to fix a screen/vertical trellis for boston ivy. I initially tried Lotus 2.5m Metal Garden Arch but it started rusting in no time. Now Im thinking of fixing a plastic/wire mesh to my timber paling fence. As I got to know from few forums that ivy roots and moisture can ruin the timber fence, I like to know any alternative ideas. Is there a way to fix a mesh maintaining a reasonable gap to timber fence? As my easement is running along the fence, I dont like to dig and use ground posts.
Thanks!
Hello @Sanju
I suggest using 70 x 35mm Outdoor Framing H3 Treated Pine - 2.4m as a spacer for your plastic trellis. If you have a timber fence, you can screw it directly into your fence. I recommend using Zenith 10 - 8 x 75mm Treated Pine Countersunk Head Screws - 50 Pack to fix the timber to your fence.
I recommend looking at the Backyard Farmer 6.0 x 0.5m x 50mm Black Plastic Trellis or the Jack 60cm x 10m Supa-Net which has a smaller gap. I propose visiting your local store and having a look at the plastic trellis and see which one suits your needs. I recommend looking at Jack Mesh Panel Fix Clip - 50 Pack to keep the plastic trellis stretched over the area.
