Budget kitchen renovation

20220720_160425.jpg20220720_160558.jpg20220720_160438.jpgMoved into house in November
1990's timber kitchen...layout was OK, but very dated so decided on a full paint job.
Walls, cupboards, laminex benchtop and tiles and all timber architraves .
Dismantled cupboards above stove to display open shelves.
Removed doors from pantry as they were very impracticable.
New oven but decided to stay with original Jenn Air indoor BBQ.
Re-edged all cupboards and drawers and relined cupboards with adhesive tiles.
Created chequer board floor with adhesive tiles to define the kitchen area...have described this in previous post.
Island bench area covered in adhesive planks from Bunnings using extra glue.
Primed the benchtops, then painted with Parisian white chalk paint and sealed with 2 coats of Cabothane clear...
May recoat the benchtops in another colour later.
Finished this project in February and benches holding up well, though I am a bit precious about them.  Large chopping board made from op shop computer desk and have lined the base with stick on felt mats from Bunnings to avoid scratching.

Cupboards painted in dulux gloss aquanamel....no yellowing so far.
Had considered distressing the kitchen cupboards but thought better of it ....would probally distress paint the cat if I could!!

Re: Budget kitchen renovation

Another terrific project under your belt, @Carmel1955, congratulations! Extending the chequerboard floor from your entryway to the kitchen is a great idea and ties in both the spaces beautifully. The black and white colour scheme also adds in a modern and contemporary touch to your previously wooden kitchen.

Great work, can't wait to see more of your creativity.
