How to fix tile grout peeling?

I was wondering if anyone has any idea what’s going on here. my mum said that she pulled out the fridge to clean behind it and then she wiped the tiles behind the fridge with a damp cloth, the grout was kind of peeling off. She’s wiped off all the loose grout and now it seems okay but she’s not sure if there’s an underlying problem and if there’s anything that she should be doing to prevent it from happening again

 thank you

Re: tile grout peeling

Hello @maro

I'm not sure what caused the peeling on the surface of the grout, but what is important is that the grout left behind is in good condition. It means that it is not powdery, damp, loose or cracking. Damaged grout will need to removed and replaced, but if the grout currently there is still in good condition, then there is no need to worry. If you wish to seal the surface of the grout, I suggest looking at using Dunlop 250ml Grout Sealer. My best advice is to make sure that the sealer is totally cured before covering it back with the fridge.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
