Hey friends,
I’m almost ready to get my splashback tiled. I’m wondering if I need to patch the parts of my wall where you can see the brick above the benchtop before i get a tiler in, or can they fill that as they go?
Cheers

Hi @crisis,
Thank you for your question.
It is probably best to fill those holes before your tiler gets there, as these holes aren't exactly shallow, and any filler would need time to cure before you could tile over the top. If your tiler can get in, lay their tiles and get out, it will save both you and them time and money. It is likely worthwhile doing this at least a few days before their arrival to ensure the patches are fully cured.
I'd suggest you use this Dingo Fast Set Mortar to patch up those holes and bring them to the same level as the wall around them.
Make sure to give the holes a good brush down to remove any loose material before applying your mortar.
I'd also suggest you use Bondall BondCrete Cement Additive to prime the surface before applying your mortar. This will ensure it sticks to the surface as strongly as possible.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you! This is super helpful and I can use this to help join my bench tops too. One question. To prime the bricks do I follow the same dilution instructions (1:4) as for sealing and priming for painting?
cheers
Hi @crisis,
Yes, it's a 1:4 sealer coat and allowing it to dry. Then, you'll do a 4:1 mix over the dry sealer coat. While that coat is still tacky, you'll fill the area with the Fast-set mortar.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
