Need to mount two cupboards on kitchen wall with no studs to use? Thanks need to do ASAP. JO
Hi @oconnorjk61,
Assuming plasterboard wall how did you determine there are no studs?
Can you post some photos please.
Cheers
Hi @oconnorjk61,
When you say you need to mount two cupboards on the wall, are they wall mount cabinets that are not touching the ground at all?
Or are they cupboards that sit on the ground but need to be attached to prevent tipping?
Like @AlanM52 mentioned, some photos of the space would certainly help us to offer our best advice.
Unfortunately, if you are using wall-mounted cabinets like these Kaboodle 800mm White Wall Cabinets, then they need to be mounted to a structural member such as a timber stud or a brick wall.
Walls can't stand without studs, so there is always going to be something there, but it may not be in the exact position you are hoping for. When studs are not in the right place for your mounting points, then you can attach a horizontal cleat between the two closest studs and then mount to that cleat.
You could use a piece of Specrite 70 x 35mm 0.9m Short Pine Run Of Mill to act as your cleat. You can then identify the location of the two nearest studs using a studfinder and screw the cleat to these studs with 75mm Timber Screws. With the cleat in place, you can then screw the cabinet to the cleat using a screw that is a suitable length to go through the back of the cabinet and embed at least 25mm into the timber cleat.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions or details to add, please don't hesitate to add them.

Hi @oconnorjk61,
I agree with @JacobZ about cleats and I was leading up to that but he beat me 😊
I also usually trim with with Quad timber.

to hide the gaps.
