Is it easy to replace kitchen cabinet doors?

Is it easy to replace kitchen cabinet doors?

I am desperate to replace our kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts, along with the side panels and kkckboards. Sadly I don't think I will be able to paint them due to there condition. I have reached out to several local joiners for quotes but am struggling to find answers so figured... why not try it myself? Is the job fairly straightforward, and do you have any tips/guidance? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Replace Kitchen Cabinet Doors

Hello @lucyranson

Thank you for sharing your question about your kitchen cabinet doors. Remaking the drawer fronts and panels is definitely achievable. Would it be possible for you to post the number of panels we are replacing and each panel's size? Once we have this information, we can then make recommendations on how we can remake them.

Re: Is it easy to replace kitchen cabinet doors?

Hello @Melrobcob

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fantastic to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your kitchen cabinet doors.

Looking at the list you've posted I'm afraid the Kaboodle pantry door is 10mm too short compared to your original, but the rest of the door sizes you've indicated could possibly be compatible. Please keep in mind that the Kaboodle doors have opening clearances cut into them and as such a 450mm door is actually 447mm. The same clearances apply to the rest of the doors you've listed.

Please be aware that the hinge positions will be different from the original set, it will be necessary to drill new screw holes for them. I propose getting a test door such as the 400mm x 720mm, you can test fit it to your cabinet and see if its compatible. This would also be a good opportunity to size match the old door with the new door and making sure that the new door is not too thick.

Once you've determined that it will work, all you need to do is to speak to the in-store kitchen specialist and discuss your choice of profile and colour.

Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a dust mask when working on your kitchen cabinets.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
