How to install countertop dishwasher?

I'm planning on buying a  countertop dishwasher. This post describes 2 ways to do it normally. Unfortunately they don't quite meet my needs:

- I rent, so I can't get a plumber out to drill a hole to connect to the outlet under the sink. Or at least, this is my last option.

- Connecting various adapters to my tap is ugly and extends the tap by a lot reducing the overall space in my sink.

So, here's the idea: Remove the tap from the sink, install a proxy that splits the outlet for my dishwasher, and install the tap back onto the proxy.

Here's a crude drawing of the plan:

And here's some photos of the existing sink:

And now the million dollar question: Will this work, and how can I achieve this?

I asked a plumber and he unfortunately was not aware of any existing products that could do this.

Thanks for your time

Edit: Bonus points for how easy it is to revert back to how it was when/if I move out.

Re: Nonconventional countertop dishwasher intake

Hello @maddy2

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your idea on how to link up your benchtop dishwasher.

It is a very original idea and might be possible to execute if there were parts that could execute your desire to run the connection at the bottom of the mixer tap. I'm in agreement with your plumber and that I'm not aware of any existing products that can do this. As a possible alternative, I suggest looking at the Pope Indoor Tap Adaptor. It will allow you to quickly, efficiently connect and disconnect the dishwasher inlet hose. The added length to your tapware will be very minimal (when the hose is disconnected) and you can take the device with you when you move out.

Please note that the dishwasher hose will need to have a Holman 12mm Brass Sprinkler Adapter and a Holman 12mm Double Ended Hose Connector to link onto the quick release feature of the tap adapter.

My only other suggestion is to link the dishwasher hose through the front door of the kitchen cabinet and to the bottom connector of the cold-water tap.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
