Hello! We have had to replace the range hood in the kitchen but I don’t know if hat type of range hood suits this space. Please help!
Good Evening @brittanyy
Welcome to the Bunnings community page. There are a lot of kitchen projects to stroll through for sure ![]()
Some questions that will help us out in offering suggestions for the space you have.
- A photo further back so we can see the stype of the cabinets, no point in getting something that dosnt match-ish.
- The distance between either side of the cupboards (taking a guess Im thinking its 600mm)
- The height from the stove top to the vent.
- The power cord, that adds a little complexity as they shouldnt be in the exhaust. Do you know what type of exhgurst you had before (or a photo)

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @brittanyy. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about ranghoods.
It's great to see that @Dave-1 is on the case.
The first thing we need to know is whether this will be a ducted or recirculating rangehood. It appears that there is an opening at the top of the cabinetry that might be for a duct. Do you happen to know whether the previous rangehood was ducted or if there is ducting to the exterior of your home in place? Once we know that, it's just a matter of selecting a unit that fits in the width and that suits your styling.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello this is a picture of it previously. It is a townhouse. Also does a tradesmen need to install or can I do it?
Hello @brittanyy
Can you please tell us what brand and model of rangehood you'll be installing? We can then give you a bird's eye view of what is involved in the installation. Generally speaking, if the ducting is in place and the new rangehood will fit into the existing space it might be possible for you to install it using D.I.Y methods.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Hi can I put a recirculating range hood in? I don’t know what was previously installed as it was burned in a fat fire. All I know is that there is a plug and it’s a town house and I don’t believe in it was fully ducted.
Hello @brittanyy
It is possible to install a recirculating rangehood in your kitchen. Some examples are the Kleenmaid 60cm Recirculating Venting Slide Out Rangehood and the Bellini 60cm Stainless Steel Slimline Rangehood. Should you decide to choose another model just make sure that it has a recirculating option. It will usually say on the box or operator's manual. Please keep in mind that the top section of the rangehood will need to be covered with a cabinet.
