Im planning to renovate a living area. I was thinking it would be nice to have underfloor heating. I have also been looking at flooring, and really like the water resistant laminate (jetty Oak). I was wondering it this laminate is suitable to lay over undeflooring heating?
Any ideas.
Thanks,
Nat
Hi @nataisa,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
I haven't been able to locate any information on whether the Floor Select 8mm Jetty Oak Water Resistant Laminate Flooring can be installed over underfloor heating, so I will have to get in touch with our suppliers for their advice.
Please bear with me, I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Hi @nataisa,
Thanks for your enquiry. Could you please let us know what type of underfloor heating system you’re considering? Is it an electric radiant system or a hydronic (water-based) one?
In general, most laminate flooring products are not suitable for use over electric radiant heating systems, as the rapid temperature changes can cause the boards to expand, contract, or become damaged over time.
However, laminate flooring is often compatible with hydronic underfloor heating, provided certain precautions are taken. This usually includes ensuring the subfloor is completely dry (often by running the system for several days beforehand), turning off the heating 48 hours before and after installation, and keeping the temperature below a certain maximum (usually around 27°C).
I've reached out to our supplier and will update you on the answer for that product as soon as I hear back from them
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hi @nataisa,
As I suspected, the laminate can only be laid over hydronic heating and is not suitable for electric heating.
2.3.INSTALLATION OVER A RADIANT-HEATED SUBFLOOR WARRANTY
• The radiant heating system has to be a water pipe radiant heating system (this means for example that we do not warrant installation over electrical radiant heating systems).
• The radiant heating system must incorporate electronic temperature controls.
• The surface temperature of the system does not exceed 27°C.
Here's a link to the full warranty guide and conditions.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
