Door - Sound barrier reducing noise from living room to bedroom

Urgently need a bedroom door that can effectively block the noise from living room to bedroom. We did some research and realize our "hallow core" door is one of the things that we need to get rid of and also have a large gap between door and floor.

Any extra thing we need to look at when we choose a "solid timber door" in bunnings for soundproofing purpose?

Also going to use the installation servcie of bunnings for convenience.

Any affordable choice? Really need a good light sleep

Re: Door - Sound barrier reducing noise from living room to bedroom

Hello @ivanptr,

Thank you for sharing your query about sound reducing doors.

Before proceeding to the store you will need to get some information about your door. First, you need to measure the length and width of your door and note its thickness. If your door is a non-standard sized door it will need to be ordered. However, if your door falls in the standard sized category then you can buy the door straight off the shelf.

Please make sure that the door is marked either a solidcore or solicore, these doors have solid timber as their interiors. To further increase your soundproofing I suggest using Raven 5m Superior White Door and Window Weather Strip - RP59 White. Place the weatherstrip on the inside channel of the door frame to cancel out the noise coming through the gaps.

Here is a catalog on one of our door sets: Hume Doors

Please note that you will have to provide your own door hardware as it is not included in the door installation service.

Please let us know if you need more information.

Eric
