Hey, the timber floor in our apartment had the colour leached out of it due to a pumpkin being left on the floor for about two months. It's an engineered wooden floor but not sure what type of wood is used. Have tried the waxstix touch up crayon in walnut (darkest available colour) but it is still too light and warm. I am wondering if polishes would look better? Do you have any other suggestions?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Lube. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about covering a stain.
You might like to pickup a few different coloured stains to work out which would be a close match. Something like Walnut or Oak could be close. Take a small amount on a cloth and then dab almost all of it off onto some cardboard; you want the stain on the cloth to be almost dry to the touch. Then, begin very slowly adding colour to the area. Slowly build up the colour by doing this dry application method. You never want to wet the cloth with stain and apply it directly, as if you apply too much, you can't go back.
In all likelihood, you will end up with a circle that's slightly off the colour of the floor, but it will look much better than it currently is.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
