Re: wooden floor repair

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kp4. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing a timber floor.

How much of the floor is covered with this damage? This type of wear is pretty typically for softwood floorings. Unlike hardwood, Pine flooring is easily dented by anything hard. In this case, it appears like it might be the legs of furniture denting the surface. It's best to use surface protectors on your furniture legs if at all possible.

You might try placing a wet tea towel over the area and ironing it on a low setting. This can force the timber grain to swell and reduce the depth of the dents. It won't remove them entirely but could disguise the damage to a certain extent. Apart from that, the only other option I can think of is re-surfacing the floor. This will require sanding and re-coating. Unfortunately, some of those dents look quite deep, so you'd need to remove a significant amount of timber to fix the issue. You could fill the deeper dents with timber putty and sand the shallower ones out.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
