Hi,
I have a shelf in my study area and I am looking to add some led lighting on the shelves. What LED strips could I use and how would I go about doing this?
What extensions, drivers, power adaptor would i need? Will I need diffusers? Ideally trying to connect all the shelf lighting to 1 Power adaptor and preferably physical remote control operated. App control is a bonus.
I am attaching a picture of my shelf.
Thanks
@DarkBaron good stuff mate, sometimes simple is better.
Would either of you know if a 20 AWG wire is sufficient for the project? This is what I purchased.
The LED strip (CCT) is about 16W/m
For each shelf I will only require 40 cm x 4 with:
The top 2 shelves require a cable run of 3 m each and the bottom 2 require 2m each.to the LED driver.
Thanks
Should be OK next time go for for 18 AWG.
Hello @DarkBaron
Just a friendly reminder that any electrical work must be carried out by a licensed electrician for safety and compliance.
In the interest of health and safety, I suggest engaging the services of an electrician so that the wiring is done safely and to code.
Let me call on our experienced members @CSParnell and @MikeTNZ for their recommendations.

I went for the 18 AWG wire and manged to create an led strip for each of my 4 shelves.
Finally completed the LED project!
