Build a outdoor kitchen bench. As we have a glass window splash back inside the kitchen, when we cook it tends to get very dirty especially when using oil. So we decided to built this in our alfresco to avoid the mess on the splash back.
Note: we didn't take that many progress photos (disappointed)
16mm Hardwood Timber
40x95mm Treated Pine
50x75mm Treated Pine
Timber Screws 40mmx10g
3mm Aluminium Sheet
Dulux Weather Shield Primer
Dulux Weather Shield White
Gorilla Wood Glue
Selleys Clear Silicon
Drop Saw
Circular Saw (timber and aluminium blade)
Tape measure
methylated Spirit
Drill
Counter Sink Bit
Hammer drill
6mm masonry bit
Green plugs
wafer head screws 25mm
Went to the drawing board and worked out how much we needed for the space as we were limited as the alfresco is small.
Cut all my timber to size. Started to glue and screw up all the frame work. Cut the 16mm hardwood for the bench top. Originally planned to have doors but we changed our minds and kept it open. Once all was screwed together, measured up what was required to cut the aluminium side panels and splash back.
When we cut the aluminium panels we used methylated spirits to spray on the cutting blade while cutting to keep it cool and not overheat and blunt the blade. We dry fit the panels on and measured where to counter sink and screw the panel on after applying the silicon underneath.
Screwed the frame into the brick work to avoid movement. Using green plugs and 120mm timber screws.
Splash back mounted to the wall and screwed into the brick work for support, using the 25mm wafer screws.
We installed a mini bar fridge and portable gas unit, which we use to cook on.
Hello @Lmassih
Thank you for sharing the plans and steps you took to assemble this fantastic kitchen bench. its aluminium outer skin will pretty much guarantee years of service.
