A massive undertaking we decided to turn our mundane front yard into a 7 by 9m low deck with full length steps up to the house. Amazing for entertaining in the summer!
Decking timber
Timber Piles
Bearers
Joists
Nails
Concrete
Decking Screws

Hammer Drill
Drop Saw
Measure out the area and distance between holes. Dig holes and put in piles, making sure they are straight a level. Fill with concrete and leave to harden - best done when no rain forecast.
Cut and secure bearers to the piles
Secure Joists to bearers - 400mm spaces between joists
Measure length, depth and height for steps. Build framing for each step and secure to joists.
once all framing for steps is completed, secure decking timber to joists - butt timber ends together.
Hi @EuroKiwi
Thank you for sharing this low-level deck project. It's absolutely amazing the deck has made the entrance way so much more appealing.
