How to add power to outdoor area

Hi all,

Looking for ideas for having power outlets in our new Bali hut we are building. Wanting to try and keep a clean looking deck with out obvious power outlets showing. Have deck lights which leads should reach back to house. HAve a couple entrance waterfeatures with only short leads.  And 2 other water features that will sit near hut that also reqire power. Any ideas appreciated.balihut.jpg

Re: How to add power to outdoor area

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @rmw1970. It's fantastic to have you join us and many thanks for your questions.

Is the power required at the hut purely to plug in the water features? If so, you might want to consider having the electrician extend their leads so they can run back to the house instead of installing an outlet at the hut. If you want power at the hut for other reasons then it would be worth considering where you will have the best access to it.

I'm thinking that you could cut a decking board, add hinges and a finger pull hole and have the external outlets hidden under it. When you need power you could simply lift up the trap door and plug into it. The water features could be hardwired into this circuit to avoid having to plug them in.

Let me also mention @bruce93 and @ProjectPete to see if they could give us an idea of how you could conceal power outlets on an external timber structure.
