Question: Can I get shims to level bessa blocks?
I am erecting a 5M x 2.4M POD in our backyard.
The welded tubular steel base looks like this and will be supported on nine pads.
Each pad is a half bessa block (0811049) sitting on one or more pavers (3451556) depending ground slope.
I need shims for the 190 x 190mm blocks.
Cheers
Hi @AlanM52,
You would need to follow construction codes for the creation of Besser Block piers. This would require an engineer to asses the load you intend on placing on the piers and design a foundation to suit. Most likely, this will be a solid concrete footer of a size determined by the soil type in your area and a pad with vertical rebar installed into it. The Besser blocks would then be added, and then core filled with concrete.
Alternatively, the supplier of the POD might have details, and if they've assessed the situation and determined that a paver and Besser Block is suitable, then you could use plastic shims for adjustment.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for that info.
Can I get shims from Bunnings for 190cm x 190cm half besser blocks?
Cheers
Unfortunately not @AlanM52.
Besser blocks are not designed for use with shims. The foundations of them should be created at the same level to achieve your desired height.

This is what I am planning with a half besser block between the pod steel base bearer and the paver.
I will buy a few of the best quality vinyl tiles and if needed cut to size and shim the top of the block.
Cheers
