Hello may I please get some ideas on how to close the gap between pergola and garage wall
Hi @Josie33,
Welcome to the Bunnings workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
When you say close the gap, do you mean you want to add a roof?
If so, then you could do something relatively simple, like add a tarp over the area by bolting to the brick and the pergola, or you could put something more solid, like a timber frame with roof sheets.
If you wanted to go with a tarp, you could use fixings like these Macsim 10 x 70mm Galvanised Eye Bolt Head Masonbolts on the garage side and more standard eye bolts on the pergola side.
If you wanted to build a more permanent timber frame with roof sheets, you would likely have to speak with a carpenter or builder for their assistance as even small roofed structures often require building approval and a construction licence to build.
If you were looking to do something else, please let us know a few further details so we can assist further.
Allow me to tag @Nailbag, @Dave-1 and @AlanM52 to see what they think.

Hi @Josie33,
Some questions and request for more photos.
Can you take a photo further back so we can better judge the height difference.
What is that?
Can you take photos of the pergola, wondering if it has a down pipe.
With ladder safety in mind can you or someone take a photo of the pergola roof but if doubt ignore that request!
Cheers
Good Evening @Josie33
So I have a few questions for you
Not hard but helps with ideas we might have.
Is the garage yours? or your neighbours?
How stable is your carport? As in does it wobble at all with some shaking?
The reason I ask-
- If its your neighbous garage you cant have a physical attachment between the two.
- If the garage is yours and your carpot shakes, then the connection between the two needs to be more robust to stop the shake.
I like the idea of a tarp/material type deal. One with a slope but almost level. That way there is no concern about council rulings. Some angle brackets on your carport and then two pieces of 70*35 H3 timber, the one closest to the garage on its side, the furtherest one from the garage lying flat. It will create a bit of a slope. If you want a solid fixing, just let us know the answers to the questions and I am sure we will come up with some more ideas ![]()
