I wanted my home to welcome people the way I do – warm and open. Our 1970s house was plain and hidden, so I moved the doorway forward and built a fascia with stacked stone pillars and timber beams. The new deck ties it all together, adding shade, shelter, and a modern feel. It’s more than a facelift – it’s where family moments begin the second you step through the door.
Timber
blue board
paint (monument)
decking timber
Screws
drill
drop saw
Applied stacked stone – Used masonry adhesive to attach stacked stone over the blue board for a modern finish.
Sorry I have no photos of this step
Built the framing to screw the timbre slats at the top of the fascia
(again sorry no pictures)
Built a timber subframe at the entrance to support the decking boards. Installed decking boards – Laid and secured decking boards over the subframe for a durable surface.
And then it was just paint and it was all done!!!

Hi @vr,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
This is a fantastic addition to the front facade of your home. It creates a wonderfully inviting look and feel that has modernised the entrance to your home massively.
I love the stacked stone columns and the horizontal decking used as cladding; they work so well together.
The little deck also creates a lovely surface to walk on that ties everything together.
Congratulations on a fantastic project and thank you for sharing.
Jacob
Thanks JacobZ really appreciate it, I’m still learning new skills… it might not be a professional job but it’s something I’m proud of for a first timer
Hi @vr,
Every professional started somewhere, and for a first timer, it looks like a damn good job to me.
I can't wait to see the next project if this is your first.
You should be extremely proud of your achievement.
