Slat shelf upcycled to bench seat

Starting our laundry renovation I had to pull down old shelving that was used for the towel cupboard. The wood was too nice to chuck out and I’m always looking to up-cycle where possible so I turned these shelves into a bench seat for a nook in the hall way.

Materials

Tools

Hammer

Nails

Saw

Clamps

Steps

Step 1

We cut an even amount of slats to the length we wanted and some slats for the height.

Step 2

As easy as nailing layers together as you go. We would nail in the sequence of length slat to two legs - length slat to two legs an so on.

Step 3

Once everything is layered and secure, framing the bottom of the legs and you’re good to go!
