White brick step with washed stone entrance way. We wanted a country home style entrance and through finding inspiration online we created just that
Bricks
Washed pebble stones
Gravel stabilisers
Pave tight sand
Circular saw with diamond blade
Rubber mallet
Rake
Spade
Measuring out the area and calculating how many gravel stabilisers you will need. The stabilisers lock together like a puzzle and they do not budge. Dump and rake the gravel into the stabilisers leaving a thin layer on top so the gravel doesn’t sink when walking over.
The step. Dig slightly below the gravel line - not too low so the gravel doesn’t spread over the step when walking - level out the area and create a border with full bricks.
For the inner pattern - with ear muffs and eye protection, cut the bricks into consistent cubes. Place these into the space in a desired pattern, this is where you have the opportunity to play! I had to be aware of how many I bricks I had and filled the space accordingly.
Once all bricks are in place, spread pave tight sand over top and brush into the gaps with a stiff broom. Soak the whole step with a garden hose (don’t make puddles) and leave to dry for at least a day, the longer the better. Those bricks won’t be going anywhere!
Hello @EuroKiwi
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your white brick step project.
You've done a beautiful job creating a warm, inviting country-style entrance! The contrast between the white brick step and the textured washed stone pathway adds a lovely rustic charm, while still feeling clean and refined. The mosaic-style stonework near the timber deck is especially eye-catching, it adds character and a handcrafted touch that makes the whole space feel personal and thoughtfully designed. Framing it with garden beds and lavender softens the hardscape perfectly. It’s a welcoming and elegant first impression, very well done!

Good Afternoon @EuroKiwi
Thats a really nice transition and looks well thought out. Love the stabilisation panels you have used Ive looked at them a few times but so far havnt manage to use them
Dave
Thanks a lot! Yeah the panels are really helpful, we push our pram over the stones constantly and there’s no sinking at all. Up by the gate the path is on an angle so cutting the panels was really easy and we used the off-cut to fill the angled space - again, nothing budged
